Required Daily Student Health Screenings

  • Parents and Guardians are responsible to conduct a daily COVID screening of their child(ren) every morning prior to students leaving the home.  If the screening shows that the student is feeling sick, or if the student displays or complains of a symptom associated with COVID-19, the student must stay home.  Parents are asked to report the absence to the school nurse if the child's absence is due to the display of COVID-19 symptoms.

  • In the past 14 days, has your child been near (within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes) a person who has a lab confirmed case of COVID-19, or have you had direct contact with their mucus or saliva?
  •  In the last 48 hours, has your child had any of the following symptoms?
    • Fever of 100.4 F or above (or symptoms like alternating shivering and sweating)
    • New cough
    • New trouble breathing, shortness of breath or severe wheezing
    • New chills or shaking with chills
    • New muscle aches
    • Sore throat
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • New loss of smell or taste, or a change in taste
    • Nausea
    • Fatigue
    • Headache, congestion or runny nose (with no known other cause such as allergies)
If you answered YES to any of the questions above, do NOT send your child to school today. Instead, contact your child’s primary healthcare provider and the school nurse.

Additional considerations:
  • Students must stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been confirmed to have COVID-19 or if required by DPH to isolate or quarantine.
  • Keep children who are sick at home; do not send them to school.  Do not send children to school with a fever of 100.4º or greater.
  • If you child becomes ill while in school, you will be called to pick up your child at school.
  • Teach your children to wash their hands frequently with soap and running water for 20 seconds.
  • Students in grades K-12 must wear cloth face coverings in the school building. We recognize that some students in specialized populations may not be able to use face coverings to the same extent as other students (e.g. students that are unable to remove their mask due to physical disabilities, students whose psychological or emotional conditions would be adversely impacted, etc.) Face coverings should be worn by preschool children except when doing so would inhibit the individual’s health.
  • Students who have a medical condition that does not allow for the wearing of a mask must provide medical documentation to the building principal.
  • Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow.
  • Teach your children to practice physical and social distancing by staying at least six feet away from people other than your family.
  • If you have questions, please contact your school nurse or child’s primary healthcare provider.

Required Daily Staff Health Screening

  • Staff are required to complete the on-line health screening survey either prior to or immediately upon arrival to work before engaging in assigned work responsibilities.
  • Any employee who begins to feel ill during the course of the day or develops symptoms associated with COVID-19 are to immediately contact their immediate supervisor, isolate themselves, and await further instructions.
