Remote Learning Expectations

Expectations for Remote Learning

Students will:

  • Access, attend, and participate in all scheduled classes remotely as if being on-site and in school as done during a traditional, in-person school year.
  • Demonstrate attendance through visual confirmation and active engagement and participation during the real-time, synchronous, portion of the lesson and completion of assignments and tasks during any asynchronous portions of the class.
  • Respond to school and teacher messages in Schoology within 24 hours.
  • Proactively communicate with teachers and school staff what is working and what is not.
  • Follow District technology expectations and the District Acceptable Use Agreement.
  • Participate in training on the appropriate use of devices.
  • Participate in training on how to use Schoology, BSD's learning management system.
  • Participate in training on how to use other integrated technology software and programs that are course specific.
  • Engage in social and emotional (SEL) check-ins and reflections using teacher and/or District provided tools.

Parents will:

  • Help children to be ready to learn by providing a supportive learning environment including time, space, and resources necessary for learning.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers and school regarding needs.
  • Take advantage of parent resources available on the District or school websites to support student learning.
  • Update the school with accurate contact information, such as email, phone number, and address.
  • Monitor student progress within Schoology and Home Access Center (HAC).
  • Actively monitor student engagement through planning, prioritizing, organization, goal setting, and time management.
  • Collaborate with teachers to increase student motivation and engagement.
  • Monitor the use and care of district-provided devices.
  • Contact your child's teacher and/or principal for assistance when needed.
  • Share information with school staff regarding the impact of school closure and pandemic of your child and family.
  • Communicate with school staff regarding barriers to participating in remote learning.
